Welcome to Oxnard Shores

Pristine beaches in a quiet, resort-style community

The quiet community of Oxnard Shores, with its uncrowded coastline and gorgeous beaches, offers an escape from the bustle and traffic of nearby Los Angeles. Tucked away in a paradise of white sand and glistening water, this hidden gem boasts none of the flash and pomp of Venice or Santa Monica beaches, and that’s just the way the residents of this tranquil haven like it.

Developed back in the 1930s, Oxnard Shores became a hamlet of recreation and relaxation. Clark Gable spent time here and is said to have loved the entire Oxnard area, enjoying the lavish duck hunting and a break from the Hollywood hustle. Today this peaceful enclave boasts beautiful oceanfront homes, a wide expanse of sandy beaches, and planned beach communities with a mixture of elegant townhomes, beachside stunners, and waterfront homes with private docks.

What to Love

  • Expansive beaches with panoramic views
  • Walkable neighborhoods, lined with palm trees
  • Stunning and highly-coveted beach-side estates

Local Lifestyle

A laid-back community, Oxnard Shores is known for outdoor recreation and its popular bike paths, fishing excursions, surfing, and wide-open sandy beaches. Residents are low-key about the area’s Hollywood history. While a few insist this was a hotspot for all the biggest film stars, most residents, if asked, will chuckle and shake their heads, preferring to leave the glamour and gossip to the days of Old Hollywood.

Dining, Entertainment, and Shopping

Oxnard Shores offers a perfect blend of beachy fun and upscale dining, with a few spa treatments thrown in for good measure. You’ll love the beach-themed bar and grill The Shores, with its surfboard decor and vintage photos. Bringing back the refined dishes of the past, as well as the warm atmosphere the beach life is known for, this unique eatery also offers plenty of opportunities to catch up on the latest game and indulge in fine wine and creative cocktails. The Embassy Suites Mandalay Beach Hotel resort features a restaurant, an outdoor pool, beach-side tennis courts, and bike rentals. Stop by the Beach Spa for an indulgent and revitalizing treatment.

The Pizza Company may just be your new favorite pizza joint. This easygoing pizzeria is the epitome of beach vibes — it’s so laid-back it doesn’t even have its own website. Offering incredible pizza, as well as Italian deli classics, like meatball subs, this chill spot is perfect after a long day of surfing. For the last 20 years, the place to go in Oxnard for top-notch pastries and cakes is the Shores’ own Heavenly Cakes, a family-owned and run bakery specializing in gorgeous custom cakes, donuts, an assortment of pastries, bread, cookies, and more.

Things to Do

With the ocean taking center stage, it’s no surprise that many of the activities in Oxnard Shores revolve around the sea. The Parade of Lights, a neighborhood favorite for over 50 years, is known for the procession of festive boats decked out in holiday lights, as well as other Channel Islands Harbor waterside entertainment. The annual Santa to the Sea fundraiser welcomes the jolly bearded one with a half marathon, a race for the kids, and a two-person relay, all to support underprivileged children in Ventura County. The 4th of July Family Parade is one of the summer’s best events. With tons of activities for the kids, an electric boat parade, and a stunning fireworks display, this is tops on the Must-See list.

Skip the grocery store and head to the Channel Islands Certified Farmers’ Market every Sunday for the best in fresh produce, organic fruit, gourmet pastries, and the prettiest flowers in town. Grab a latte and settle in for the live music and socializing. Live music is the theme of summer and fall by the shore. From summer concerts at the Channel Islands Harbor to Heritage Square Concert Series in the historic downtown area, there’s something for everyone to groove to.
